Why Amazon rejects listing images
Most suppressed listings come down to three things: a background that is not pure white, a product that fills too little of the frame, or an image below the minimum pixel size. None of them are hard to fix once you know the numbers.
The main image rules
Your main image must sit on a pure white background (RGB 255,255,255), show only the product you are selling, and fill at least 85% of the frame. No props, no watermarks, no text overlays, no borders. Amazon reads the corner pixels to verify the background, so a near-white studio sweep will still fail.
Size and format
The longest side should be at least 1600px so the zoom function switches on — this alone lifts conversion on most listings. Accepted formats are JPEG, PNG, TIFF and GIF, with JPEG being the safest for file size. Keep sRGB colour profile; CMYK files come out dull.
Secondary images
Images two through nine are far more relaxed. Lifestyle shots, infographics, scale comparisons and detail crops all help here, and props are allowed. This is where most of the selling actually happens.
A quick pre-upload checklist
Background pure white on the main image. Product fills 85% of the frame. Longest side 1600px or more. sRGB colour profile. No logos, watermarks or borders. Shadows either removed or natural and subtle. If all six are true, the listing will go live.
